Adam has a Masters degree in law with first class honours, specialising in criminal, and family law.
Adam is an adjunct lecturer with the College of Law and teaches advocacy to graduates entering the profession. Adam is regularly appointed as amicus curiae and stand by counsel as defence counsel.
Adam was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in February 2006 and spent the next two and a half years with the Inland Revenue Department, prosecuting tax evasion and other offences under the Crimes Act 1961 and Tax Administration Act 1994. He regularly presented seminars on taxation topics on behalf of the Commissioner of IRD, and was the sole representative for search warrants and civil lists at the High Court of Auckland. During that time Adam was an elected member of the Auckland District Law Society – Recently Admitted Members.
In 2008 Adam seized upon an opportunity to join the New Zealand Police Prosecution Service and over the next 10 years prosecuted on behalf of the police all over New Zealand. He attained positions of Senior Prosecutor in Auckland, and then Principal Prosecutor for the Waikato region. Adam also held various District Prosecution Manager positions during that time and was the prosecutions adviser in the Waikato region for CIB and the Child Protection Teams. Adam was regularly acknowledged for his work by Police National Headquarters, and was honoured with the “In House Lawyer of the Year Award” in 2016 by ILANZ. Adam has experience in presenting CPD seminars to the profession and was the only recognised mentor with a prosecutorial focus within the NZ police. Adam’s efforts saw nationwide change and training result for all police staff around issues of conflict of interest.
Adam joined the Crown Solicitor’s office in Hamilton in January 2018 and has worked as Crown Counsel since then, dealing with all kinds of criminal and regulatory prosecutions and issues. During his time with the Crown Adam represented a number of government agencies including, the police, WorkSafe, Immigration, Customs, City Councils, and the Department of Corrections. Adam is experienced in all matters relating to criminal law and is able to represent you throughout the prosecution process from your first appearance onwards. Adam was also an elected member of the Waikato Bay of Plenty Law Society from 2015-2019.
Adam is now a barrister sole taking a wealth of experience with him, and is an approved legal aid and police detention legal assistance scheme provider and is able to provide you with the best advice from first appearance, to sentencing, to judge alone and jury trials. Adam will also accept instructions from clients at parole hearings, and also for appeals. Adam is able to assist you in obtaining a Limited Licence/Work Licence if you have been lost your licence through a Court order or demerit points.
Adam is able to assist you in any of the following District Courts; Whangarei, Dargaville, Kaitaia and Kaikohe and can travel to any courts as south as Taumarunui.
